Led the design and development of Orion Health's Smart Data Platform with an event-driven, cloud-native architecture.
Role
Lead Engineer
Technologies
Key outcomes
- Led a team of 10 engineers delivering a new platform direction.
- Redesigned the platform around event-driven and CQRS principles.
- Introduced pluggable pipeline patterns and technologies such as GraphQL.
Context
At Orion Health, the work shifted from module-level delivery into broader platform leadership. The challenge was to design a scalable data platform that could support modern product needs while giving the engineering team a clearer technical direction.
What I focused on
- Leading a cross-functional engineering team through platform design and delivery
- Driving event-driven and CQRS-oriented architecture decisions
- Building pluggable pipeline capabilities using Kafka and Spark
- Introducing new technologies where they had a clear product and engineering payoff
Why it mattered
This work sat at the intersection of product strategy, architecture, and execution. The value was not just in designing the platform, but in helping a team deliver it with enough clarity that it could continue to evolve.
